Crisis : not defined as major electrical outage involving blackouts or power loss to over 200,000 people in a four day period. Defined by current government as an event leading to the loss of one or more seats in the Provincial legislature.

What is wrong with everyone in this province. We live in the middle of the North Atlantic, we had bad weather, we lost power. It came back. Get over it!

But the power outages were not caused by poor weather, but by ageing and poorly-maintained infrastructure. #darknl is a manifestation of years of bad policy and short-sighted decision-making. That’s why people are angry and frustrated.

The power outages were not due to bad weather but due to the failure of our power system to supply to the entire population while our population decreased by 10% since 1997. As well the failure of our government to manage and upkeep the system appropriately. Some people suggest this failure was to encourage public support for muskrat falls.

Your complacency clearly illuminates the cause for this mess.

We have storms every year, yes, but have we ever had rolling blackouts before? Danny Williams pushed this dam project through with the public’s consent – they had rose-coloured glasses on and sparkles in their eyes after the speeches by smooth-talking ol’ Danny. Dunderdale is just here to push the project to completion and on schedule, so she and her buds get some kickbacks and she can retire. They knew they were going to need investment into our energy infrastructure and the system was older than 30 years old when Danny came into power. Danny saw the kind of economic development in St. John’s that hasn’t been seen since the cod fishery’s prime, yet didn’t want to invest in the public sector to help ensure it was smooth sailing. Dunderdale’s following suit because she’s not a leader, she’s a corporate shill (and a terrible public speaker). To tell people to get over it is the same as telling Dunderdale she doesn’t have to do anything extraordinary under extraordinary circumstances to keep her job – the onus should be on public officials during a time like this to prove their mettle, not cover their behinds and pass the buck. Never seen such gall from a Premier or her supporters in all my life.

Hey Matt, it wasn’t the weather that caused the power system failure! The rolling blackouts started BEFORE the bllizzard. #NALCOReggsinonebasket

Its all fine and dandy when you get cut off from something you are given for free you don’t really have a lot of room to bitch….but when you pay through the nose for electricy and you don’t get it you have the right to bitch as freely as you wish…all the millions of dollars that go into nl hydro they are paid this money for a service…and service they are required to keep maintained and running so that the customers in this province are getting what they pay for…but because they are held hostage by the fat blunder-gale government that we are all to blind to see that we are stuck into a ” sit down and shut up and tske what we give you” kind of state as it seems….and dunderdale says that we are not in a crisis because governent is still open and hospitals and schools are open….number one schools are shut down…number town half the people with non lifethreating illnesses were sent home to conserve power….and the goverment???? Hahaha wouldn’t hurt for the shit show to shut the hell down to try and reset its self….I vote to have steven harper and that fat wale dunderdale taken out of office!!!!!! JACK LAYTON WASTHE MAN!!!!!
